PRODUCT DETAILS

6-Well TC-Treated Cell Culture Plate for Larger-Scale Adherent Cell Work

The Puretest 6-well TC-treated cell culture plate is designed for experiments that require generous culture area, convenient access and higher cell yield from each condition. Each well provides approximately 9.5 cm2 of growth area, making the format suitable for cell expansion, transfection, differentiation, staining, coverslip culture and downstream protein or nucleic-acid preparation.

The clear polystyrene plate combines a tissue-culture-treated surface, wide flat-bottom wells and a matching lid. Its 2 x 3 layout is easy to map and handle, while the large well diameter provides convenient access for washing, aspiration, cell scraping and sample recovery. Each plate is gamma-irradiation sterilized and individually sealed for aseptic laboratory use.

Product Highlights

  • Large 9.5 cm2 growth area: Supports higher cell yield and larger sample volumes per experimental condition.
  • Uniform TC-treated surface: Improves hydrophilicity for reliable attachment and spreading of many adherent cell types.
  • Wide 34.8 mm wells: Simplify pipetting, washing, scraping, coverslip placement and cell recovery.
  • Clear flat bottoms: Support routine visual inspection, inverted microscopy, staining and imaging.
  • Individually identified wells: Help organize treatment groups, controls and replicate samples.
  • Raised well rims: Help reduce accidental liquid carryover between neighboring wells during careful handling.
  • Matching vented lid: Helps protect cultures while supporting gas exchange in standard incubator workflows.
  • Individual sterile pouch: Allows single-plate access without exposing unused inventory.

Plate Structure and Functional Design

The plate uses six individually separated wells arranged in a 2 x 3 layout. Each well has an approximate diameter of 34.8 mm, an approximate growth area of 9.5 cm2 and an approximate total volume of 16.8 mL. A typical culture-medium range is approximately 1.9-2.9 mL per well; the final volume should be selected according to the cell line, seeding density, incubation duration and evaporation control required by the protocol.

The wide wells are particularly useful when operators need direct access with serological pipettes, cell scrapers or forceps. Compatible round coverslips may be placed in the wells for staining and microscopy, subject to confirmation of the coverslip diameter and technical drawing.

What Does TC-Treated Mean?

Untreated polystyrene is naturally hydrophobic and may not provide suitable attachment for many anchorage-dependent cells. Tissue-culture treatment modifies the surface to improve hydrophilicity, helping many adherent cells attach, spread and form more consistent monolayers.

This product is intended primarily for adherent-cell workflows. Suspension cells, low-attachment models and specialized assays may require a non-treated or application-specific surface.

Application Guide

Application Why the 6-Well Format Is Suitable
Cell expansion and harvesting Large growth area provides practical cell yield and convenient access for washing and recovery.
Protein, RNA or DNA preparation Higher cell mass per well supports downstream molecular and biochemical workflows.
Transfection studies Provides enough cells and medium for optimization, expression analysis and sample collection.
Cell differentiation Wide wells support longer culture periods, observation and medium exchange.
Coverslip culture Large well diameter accommodates compatible coverslips for staining and microscopy.
Cell migration or morphology studies Clear flat bottoms and accessible wells support imaging and manual processing.
Explant or primary-cell work Generous surface and working volume allow careful handling of limited or sensitive samples.

Equipment and Workflow Compatibility

The approximately standard microplate footprint is suitable for many routine laboratory workflows, including standard CO2 incubators, compatible inverted microscopes, manual pipetting, plate shakers that accept the plate dimensions, cell scraping and sample-recovery procedures. The wide wells are optimized for manual access rather than high-density screening.

Instrument or automation compatibility should be confirmed using the current product drawing and the equipment manufacturer’s dimensional requirements.

General Handling Recommendations

  1. Open the sterile pouch only in an appropriate clean working environment.
  2. Avoid touching the inner well surfaces and the inside of the lid.
  3. Pre-equilibrate culture medium when required by the validated protocol.
  4. Select working volume according to cell type, seeding density, incubation time and evaporation conditions.
  5. Use careful aspiration and washing technique to avoid disturbing attached cell layers or coverslips.
  6. Use the plate once only and dispose of it according to applicable laboratory procedures.

These recommendations are general guidance. Users should follow their validated cell-culture protocol and institutional biosafety procedures.

Sterility, Cleanliness and Quality Documentation

The plate is sterilized by gamma irradiation and individually sealed to support aseptic handling. Depending on the specification and order requirements, quality-control activities may include raw-material and appearance inspection, dimensional checks, surface-treatment consistency, packaging-integrity inspection, sterility validation, DNase/RNase testing, pyrogen or endotoxin evaluation and cell-attachment performance assessment.

If your purchasing specification requires a particular Sterility Assurance Level, endotoxin limit, Certificate of Analysis, Certificate of Conformance or other batch document, state the requirement before ordering. Puretest will confirm which limits and documents apply to the quoted product and production lot.

Storage, Shelf Life and Package Inspection

  • Storage temperature: 5-30°C.
  • Storage environment: Keep dry and away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
  • Shelf life: 3 years from manufacture when stored in unopened original packaging.
  • Before use: Do not use if the sterile pouch is opened, punctured, wet or damaged.
  • Traceability: Check the applicable lot number and expiry information on the pouch or carton label.

Packaging, International Shipping and Supply Support

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose a 6-well plate instead of a higher-density format?

The 6-well format offers more culture area, medium volume and physical access per condition. It is better suited to cell expansion, coverslips, scraping and higher-yield harvesting.

What working volume should I use?

Approximately 1.9-2.9 mL per well is a typical starting range. Optimize volume for the cell type, incubation duration and evaporation control required by your protocol.

Can coverslips be placed inside the wells?

The approximate 34.8 mm well diameter can accommodate many common coverslip sizes. Confirm the coverslip diameter and handling method before use.

Is this plate suitable for suspension cells?

The TC-treated surface is primarily designed for adherent cells. Ask Puretest whether a non-treated or specialized surface is more suitable for suspension workflows.

Can cells be harvested with a scraper?

The wide wells provide convenient scraper access. Select a scraper size compatible with the well geometry and follow your validated recovery procedure.

Can I request samples for cell-attachment testing?

Yes. Include the cell type, application, quantity and destination country with the sample request.

Is a Certificate of Analysis available?

Applicable batch and quality documents can be provided according to the quoted product and order requirements. Confirm the required list before ordering.

Can the packaging carry our own brand?

Private-label packaging, labels, barcodes, instruction sheets and carton markings can be discussed for eligible volume orders.
