PRODUCT DETAILS

12-Well TC-Treated Cell Culture Plate for Consistent Adherent Cell Work

The Puretest 12-well TC-treated cell culture plate is designed for parallel experiments that need more culture area and sample volume than 24- or 48-well formats. Each well provides approximately 3.8 cm2 of growth area, giving researchers enough space for cell recovery, imaging and downstream sample preparation while still allowing 12 conditions to be processed on one plate.

The clear polystyrene plate combines a tissue-culture-treated growth surface, flat transparent well bottoms and a matching lid. It is suited to routine adherent-cell culture, transfection optimization, immunocytochemistry, dose-response studies and coverslip-based workflows. Each plate is gamma-irradiation sterilized and supplied in an individual sealed pouch for convenient aseptic access.

Product Highlights

  • Uniform TC-treated surface: Improves hydrophilicity to support reliable attachment and spreading of many adherent cell types.
  • Practical 3 x 4 layout: Balances the number of experimental conditions with useful culture area and medium volume per well.
  • Clear, flat well bottoms: Support routine visual inspection, inverted-microscope observation, imaging and staining workflows.
  • Individually identified wells: Simplify sample mapping, treatment assignment and record keeping.
  • Raised well rims: Help reduce accidental liquid carryover between adjacent wells during careful handling.
  • Matching vented lid: Helps protect cultures while supporting gas exchange and routine incubator use.
  • Stackable plate profile: Makes storage, biosafety-cabinet preparation and incubator organization more efficient.
  • Individual sterile pouch: Provides single-plate access without opening unused plates.

Plate Structure and Functional Design

The plate uses a standard rectangular microplate footprint with 12 individually separated wells in a 3 x 4 arrangement. Each well has an approximate diameter of 22.1 mm and an approximate total volume of 6.9 mL. For routine cell culture, a working range of approximately 0.76-1.14 mL per well provides surface coverage while helping control reagent consumption. Final volume should always be optimized for the selected cell line, incubation period and evaporation conditions.

The transparent flat bottom supports direct observation with compatible inverted microscopes. The wider wells can also accommodate selected round coverslips for staining and microscopy; buyers should confirm the coverslip diameter against the technical drawing before use.

What Does TC-Treated Mean?

Untreated polystyrene is naturally hydrophobic and may not provide suitable attachment for many anchorage-dependent cells. Tissue-culture treatment modifies the polystyrene surface to improve hydrophilicity, helping many adherent cells attach, spread and form more consistent monolayers.

This plate is primarily intended for adherent-cell workflows. Suspension cells, low-attachment models and specialized assays may require a non-treated or application-specific surface. Contact Puretest if you need help choosing the appropriate surface.

Application Guide

Application Why the 12-Well Format Is Suitable
Adherent cell culture Provides useful growth area for routine maintenance, expansion and cell recovery.
Transfection optimization Allows multiple reagent ratios, nucleic-acid doses or treatment conditions on one plate.
Immunocytochemistry Supports cell staining and observation directly in the wells or on compatible coverslips.
Dose-response studies Enables parallel comparison of multiple treatment concentrations with practical sample volume.
Time-course experiments Provides enough wells to allocate several collection points and controls.
Coverslip culture The well diameter may accommodate compatible round coverslips for imaging workflows.
Downstream sample preparation Provides practical cell yield for protein, RNA, DNA or other validated analyses.

Equipment and Workflow Compatibility

The approximately standard microplate footprint is suitable for many common laboratory workflows, including:

  • Standard CO2 incubators
  • Compatible inverted microscopes and imaging systems
  • Manual single-channel and multichannel pipetting
  • Plate shakers that support the plate dimensions
  • Selected automated liquid-handling platforms
  • Cell staining, washing and sample-recovery workflows

Instrument compatibility should be confirmed using the current product drawing and the instrument manufacturer’s dimensional requirements before automated use.

General Handling Recommendations

  1. Open the sterile pouch only in an appropriate clean working environment.
  2. Avoid touching the inner well surfaces and the inside of the lid.
  3. Pre-equilibrate culture medium when required by your laboratory protocol.
  4. Select working volume according to cell type, seeding density, incubation time and evaporation conditions.
  5. Use sterile pipetting technique and avoid contact between the pipette tip and adjacent wells.
  6. Use the plate once only and dispose of it according to applicable laboratory procedures.

These recommendations are general guidance. Users should follow their validated cell-culture protocol and institutional biosafety procedures.

Sterility, Cleanliness and Quality Documentation

The plates are sterilized by gamma irradiation and individually sealed to support aseptic handling. Depending on the product specification and order requirements, quality-control activities may include raw-material and appearance inspection, dimensional checks, surface-treatment consistency, packaging-integrity inspection, sterility validation, DNase/RNase testing, pyrogen or endotoxin evaluation and cell-attachment performance assessment.

If your purchasing specification requires a particular Sterility Assurance Level, endotoxin limit, Certificate of Analysis, Certificate of Conformance or other batch document, state that requirement before ordering. Puretest will confirm which limits and documents apply to the quoted product and production lot. This avoids relying on generic claims that may not match your regulated or validated workflow.

Storage, Shelf Life and Package Inspection

  • Storage temperature: 5-30°C.
  • Storage environment: Keep dry and away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
  • Shelf life: 3 years from the date of manufacture when stored in the unopened original packaging.
  • Before use: Do not use the plate if the sterile pouch is opened, punctured, wet or otherwise damaged.
  • Traceability: Check the lot number and expiry information printed on the applicable pouch or carton label.

Packaging, International Shipping and Supply Support

Each plate is individually sealed for convenient single-plate access. Inner-pack quantity, case quantity, carton dimensions, gross weight, MOQ and lead time are confirmed in the commercial quotation so the shipment matches the selected packaging configuration. Export cartons are prepared to help protect products from compression and packaging damage during transit.

Orders can be arranged by courier, air or sea according to delivery urgency, destination and volume. Buyers can request samples before bulk purchasing to evaluate plate handling, cell attachment and compatibility with their own protocols.
