The Puretest 96-well round-well silicone sealing mat provides a non-adhesive, plug-style closure for compatible assay, storage and deep-well plates. Its 8 × 12 array of circular plugs helps limit evaporation, leakage and well-to-well exposure during validated storage and processing workflows.

The mat uses 96 circular sealing plugs on standard 8 × 12 centers. Each plug is shaped to enter a matching round well opening, while the flexible top web distributes pressure across the plate. This page replaces the previous incorrect square-well description.

Mat Structure and Functional Design

The mat uses 96 circular sealing plugs on standard 8 × 12 centers. Each plug is shaped to enter a matching round well opening, while the flexible top web distributes pressure across the plate. This page replaces the previous incorrect square-well description.

Each molded plug enters one well opening and applies localized sealing pressure around the rim. The flexible perimeter and connecting web allow the mat to follow the plate surface while the 8 × 12 plug array maintains well-by-well separation.

Plate Compatibility and Selection

Designed for selected 96-well plates with round well openings. Plate capacity alone does not determine fit: 1.2 mL, 2.0 mL and other round-well plates can use different rims, well diameters and plug depths. Match the current plate and mat drawings.

  • Match the plug shape to the well opening; do not substitute a round-well mat for a square-well plate.
  • Confirm plate capacity, rim shape, overall height, well pitch and plug depth.
  • For piercing workflows, validate needle diameter, penetration force, coring risk and resealing behavior.
  • For freezing or heated incubation, validate the complete plate–mat–sample system through the intended cycle.
  • Use a clamping or compression solution when the transport or incubation protocol requires it.

Installation, Cleaning and Reuse

  1. Inspect the mat for cuts, deformation, particles or residual chemicals.
  2. Align the 8 × 12 plug array with the plate and press evenly from the center toward the edges.
  3. Confirm that every plug is seated and that the mat lies flat before storage, mixing or transport.
  4. After use, clean only with a validated protocol compatible with the samples and silicone.
  5. Replace the mat if plugs become torn, permanently stretched, discolored or difficult to seat.

Material, Cleaning and Quality Documentation

The sealing mats are molded from research-grade silicone selected for flexibility, temperature resistance and repeated plate engagement. The standard configuration contains no pressure-sensitive adhesive, helping avoid adhesive contact with samples.

Reusable and autoclave-compatible supply may be available, but the permitted cleaning chemistry, number of reuse cycles, temperature exposure and sterility status depend on the quoted configuration. Request the current specification and validate the mat with your sample chemistry before reuse.

Is it reusable?

Reuse can be possible after a validated cleaning protocol. Replace any mat showing damage, swelling or permanent deformation.

Can it be autoclaved?

Autoclave-compatible configurations may be available, but confirm the quoted SKU and validate the cycle before routine use.

Will it fit every 96-well round-well plate?

No. Well pitch may be similar while rim diameter, plug depth and plate height differ.

Does the mat make the plate leakproof for shipping?

Not automatically. Validate orientation, pressure, secondary containment and transport conditions for the intended route.
