24 × 60 mm microscope cover glass is a thin, transparent rectangular sheet placed over a specimen on a microscope slide. Select this footprint to suit the prepared specimen area and the mounting method used in your laboratory.

Design and Applications

The coverslip forms the upper glass layer of a slide preparation and helps retain the specimen beneath it when used with a suitable mounting method. It is substantially thinner than the supporting microscope slide and must be handled gently.

The longer rectangular footprint provides an elongated coverage area. Check that the chosen orientation fits both the specimen and the available slide area. Cover-glass thickness should match the objective and imaging method. A thickness grade is not an interchangeable substitute for another grade or for a precision-tolerance coverslip.

Handling and Storage

Store in the original closed packaging in a clean, dry environment; protect against moisture and physical impact.
Handle at the edges with suitable laboratory tools, avoiding fingerprints on the viewing surface.
Separate coverslips carefully. Do not force stuck sheets apart or use pieces with chips or cracks.
Follow the laboratory’s mounting and glass-disposal procedures. These standard coverslips are not presented as sterile or tissue-culture-treated.

What is the difference between a cover glass and a microscope slide?

The microscope slide is the thicker support for the specimen. A coverslip is the thin sheet placed above it. This product is cover glass.

Which thickness grade should I order?

Use the grade required by your objective and microscopy method. Check the optical system documentation; selecting No. 1.5 does not mean this is a precision No. 1.5H coverslip.

Does the thickness change the length or width?

No. The listed thickness grades use the same 24 × 60 mm nominal footprint. Select the thickness separately from the footprint.

Are these round coverslips or coated cell-culture coverslips?

No. This page describes standard uncoated square or rectangular cover glass in the stated size. Round and specialized coated products are not included.
